Maintaining a dedicated skin care routine can do wonders for your complexion. However, individuals with moderate to complex skin conditions or age-related tissue damage may benefit from regular medical-grade facials. At Life Care for Women, we work with patients in and throughout Gilbert, AZ to help meet their health needs, including facials and other cosmetic services. Dr. Linda I. Sodoma provides a wide array of medical and cosmetic breakthrough treatments that give her patients satisfying outcomes.

What is a facial?

A professional facial is a cosmetic service that includes a deep cleansing of the skin to remove dirt, debris, and bacteria from the tissue to improve the overall complexion. Each facial is tailored to help meet the unique needs of each individual and the skin conditions or symptoms they wish to improve. At Life Care for Women, we will assess your skin, discuss your current skin care routine, and listen to your personal cosmetic goals to help you create a facial treatment plan that works for you.

How can facials be healthy for your skin?

A facial does more than remove dead skin and blackheads from the pores and superficial tissues. A thorough, deep cleansing of the face removes harmful toxins and bacteria that are linked to acne and other irritating conditions. Prolonged acne, enlarged pores, and pimples may lead to scarring and rapid aging of the skin. Regular facials help slow the aging process by cleaning, hydrating, and rejuvenating the skin.

Available treatments to complement a facial

At Life Care for Women, we offer the following skin care treatments to complement your facial and fit your current needs:

  • Microdermabrasion: Exfoliation to remove dead or damaged skin cells for smoother, radiant skin
  • Microneedling: Collagen induction treatment using fine needles, causing micro-injuries to the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production for firmer, softer skin
  • Dermaplaning: Scraping treatment with a facial blade to extract dead skin cells and fine facial hair for a smoother complexion

What a facial session looks like

Each patient arrives at Life Care for Women in Gilbert, AZ for their scheduled appointment to participate in their customized facial session within the comforts of one of our private treatment rooms. Each facial starts with a deep cleanse of the skin to remove dirt, debris, makeup, and excess oils or lotions. Steam is used to gently open pores to make extracting black and whiteheads easier. Microabrasion, microneedling, or dermaplaning is performed next, if any of these options were selected. Once your facial is finished, a facial serum and SPF moisturizer are massaged into the skin to hydrate and protect the tissue.

How many facials will I need?

The skin’s life cycle is approximately 3 – 4 weeks, which means the skin’s texture and appearance change with the natural aging process. To maintain radiant, smooth skin, it’s recommended that patients participate in at least one professional facial per month.

Who should not have a facial?

Since facials are gentle and noninvasive, almost any individual can experience health benefits with little to no side effects. However, patients with certain conditions should avoid or wait for a facial, including those with:

  • Facial fractures
  • Bruising or swelling of the face
  • Active bacterial skin infections
  • Broken capillaries or veins
  • Certain medication interactions
